Mal is an elf with pale skin and deep black hair. He generally dresses in purple and black accented with silver. His eyes are a dazzling silvery gray. At times his face is void of expression and his gaze seems to look beyond his surroundings, almost as if he were unaware of them. When he speaks his voice seems directionless, as if his words are for him alone to hear. That others find meaning in his words seems but a coincidence. At other times he can seem almost childlike, his expressions vibrant and full of life and excitement, his eye sparkling with laugher. Then there are the moments when his face grows cold, his eyes dark and still, and an almost evil aura can be felt about him. Some might claim him mad; others might believe he only plays the fool. Who can truly fathom the workings of the fey or those touched by them?
His past is shrouded in mystery, even from himself. Time and memory are two things Mal never thought he could barter in his pact with the Fey.
In his youth he studied prophecy and omens and showed great promise as a seer. A series of revelations and portents lead him through a web of ancient tales and lore and finally led him to her.
He met the Lady of Mirrors but once, that he can recall. A piece of ancient lore guided him to the site of what was to be a lost library. When he reached the location there was not a single scroll or tome, in fact there was nothing save a thick mist that rolled about him obscuring the trees, ground and even the sky. That is when she appeared she stood in the fog as if she had always been there though it seemed some time before he even noticed her. Her form was pale and cold as a marble statue. Her presence surrounded him, dwarfing him. Her voice rang through his very being when she spoke. “It took you long enough” was all she said and that was his only memory of her. Since that day he has found himself wandering from one ordeal to another guided only by a strange sense of what goal he must achieve.
Mal now holds the Eye of the Dawn, a priceless diamond which he’s sure is important to the Lady of Mirrors.
