The subject of this spell enters a cataleptic state indistinguishable from death. The subject can smell and hear, but not feel or see. The subject is immune to energy drain, paralysis, and poison while the spell is in effect, although poison will affect the subject once the spell’s duration ends.
The caster may end the spell effects at will, but the body remains cataleptic for 1 full round.
NOTE: The description of feign death in the AD&D Player’s Handbook 2nd Edition states it can only be used on willing subjects, but that seems at odds with the way the spell’s used in The Eternal Boundary.
This spell was used by the Shadowknave to convince bubbers and barmies that they’d died.
